Hidden deep within the forests and ruins of Grimvaldia, the Hrungar—known to most as Trolls—are relics of a forgotten age. Towering from well over nine to fifteen feet tall, with bark-like flesh and fungi-like fur, these apish beings blend perfectly with their surroundings, often mistaken for boulders or twisted trees.
By day, they enter a dormant state known as 'sunlight slumber.' But at night, they awaken—quick, agile, and terrifyingly strong. A single Hrungar can tear a man in half or reduce a village gate to splinters. Their strength is matched only by their ability to mimic the vocality of people and other living creatures, luring their victims further into their clutches. When the Troll calls... wildlife flees, Birds go silent, and the life of the forest holds its breath.
Though not mindless, they are ruled by old instincts— enjoying playful nightly outings with fellow Hrungar while hunting. Some say they even grieve after killing... claiming they whisper the names of their devoured prey in the dark.
Feared by all and believed extinct by many, the Hrungar are not gone. They are waiting—buried in shadow, cloaked in nature—waiting... until the stars fall once more.
